
LABORATORY RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Agathos Biologics is a biotechnology company pursuing transformational science in biomanufacturing, biologic payload delivery, and cell and gene therapy. The Laboratory Research Associate will work with the research and development team to conduct experiments in biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology designed by senior staff. The activities are critical to the success of the company’s products and services.
Responsibilities
Conduct and assist in the design of experiments in biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology
Establish and execute scientific techniques and protocols in cell culture, including microbial, fungal, insect, and mammalian cells
Purify biological materials, including proteins and nucleic acids
Maintain scientific instrumentation including analytic instruments (PCR, chromatography), incubators, freezers, centrifuges, and associated equipment
Diligently and accurately record and document experiments, procedures and protocols
Ensure the laboratory is fully functional by monitoring stock levels of raw materials and consumables and related tasks
Clean laboratory glassware and other reusable equipment
Experience and skills
Bacterial and mammalian cell culture
Nucleic acid and protein purification
Gene design, synthesis, and cloning techniques
Molecular biology techniques including PCR, ELISA, Blotting, electrophoretic techniques, and cell counting
Ability to manage data in laboratory notebooks, computer systems, and paper documentation, etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite
Strong written and oral communication skills
Education and work experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent required
1-3 years of experience in biochemical research or related area
